The day has finally arrived. After 1000's and 1000's of internet searches, lists, dollars and spreadsheets everything we need for our upcoming 14 week adventure to Europe is to be found in our 2 x 20kg suitcases and 2 x 6kg carry-on backpacks. We take off today (Friday) at 2pm, land in London tomorrow at 8:40 am (local time) after 23 hours in the air and 4 hours 40 minutes in layover time at Bangkok and Frankfurt airports.
The map below shows where we are going. The yellow stars represent our accommodation where we'll be staying for one or more nights:-
We are returning to the UK to visit areas we haven't walked in detail. For Iceland and Belgium, it will be the first time we have been to these countries. In France we will be visiting the western side in a little depth then we drive across the middle to the French Alps which we both love. Finally, in Italy, we will be hiking more around the southern end, an area we have never been to, then on to Rome for the first time too. On the 28 October we land back in Australia with a bag of photos and memories and two bags of dirty clothes.
So my plan once again is to record our trip for ourselves and to share them with you from time-to-time, which is often subject to WiFi availability, my time and inclination to write the blog and my travelling Editor-at-large approving the articles for publication. So sit right back and enjoy our travels.
We're going now.
